Highlights
Artists
Making her GNUF debut, Taimane gave a blistering performance on the mainstage. Jake Shimabukuro returned with bassist Jackson Waldhoff. This year saw the debut of the GNUF Symphony Orchestra which saw Tricity Vogue’s All Girl String Band performing arrangements by Andy Eastwood alongside him and a string quartet. Elsewhere, PPNOU stunned with performances across town and in the LBT. The Ukulele Teacher visited GNUF for the first time and Kala Ukulele’s founder, Mike Upton, joined us all the way from California. There were loads of new faces this year as well as quite a new familiar friends. As with every GNUF, there was all of this and so many more magic moments
Stages
2022 Saw the return of the Main Stage, the Unplugthewood Stage in the Cellar at the LBT (which also served as home to Tricity Vogue’s Late Night Cabaret Stage). There were new stages too! We saw a range of performances at KWAS (run by familiar faces from Magic Rock). Over at The Parish, Dead Mans Uke ran an awesome jam in the basement dive bar. Upstairs at the Parish, Percy Copley compered a Friday Night show and on Saturday teatime, the ace Dublin Ukulele Collective led a truly epic participatory singalong. The weekend started and ended at the Head Of Steam and Mim’s Sideshow once again graced the courtyard stage.
