Mary is the Festival Producer and Director. She has produced events in the UK and overseas including the series of 1 day charity events, “A Night of Ukulele Awesomeness” in London in 2011 and 2012 and the Festival Fringe for the South Coast Ukulele Festival in 2010. In 2003 and 2004 she produced New Talkies, a series of live music + film events with PRSF funding in Brighton, UK. She has played ukulele for years. Her first uke, a blue “Smurf” one, was destroyed by her mean little brother in the 1980s. In a surprise turn of events, a festival-goer found a blue Smurf ukulele and helped ensure that Mary got a new one in 2014. Unexpected acts of kindness like those are why she volunteers so much of her time to put on this magical, silly and awesome event.
When not volunteering for GNUF, Mary has an actual employer. Most weekdays she can be found doing her job (which she loves and which brought her to the UK). She has made interactive art for the past two decades (working with Forced Entertainment and the Lee Miller Archives on some of it). There’s a bit more info on Mary’s personal website.
